About David Hillier

All that we see and that which captures our attention, moves us, evokes a thought or emotion, is the story of who we are. The story of me is in the images before you.

Based in Nanaimo British Columbia on Vancouver Island much of my photography is influenced by the many landscapes, seascapes, and natural settings that are offered here on the island every day, and I am always keeping my eye open to the many other aspects, scenes and moments that are presented outside of nature.

Perpetually learning, tinkering, and fine tuning within the art of photography I find that I am in turn perpetually learning, tinkering, and fine tuning myself as I look at and see the world around me.

When my wanderings take me off the island and to points further away, more often than not you will find me heading to the Rocky Mountains and landscapes of British Columbia and Alberta.
It is there, one of the few places in our world where for me,everything disappears, but yet at the same time all comes into sharp focus.

You will find many of my works are in Black and White, for me there is a certain, no nonsense, no mistaking, clarity of the message relayed in the shades, tones, and contrasts of a B&W image.

'I do not photograph the color of natures dress, I photograph her black and white shades and tones of soul'

Should you have any questions or comments about any of my works, pricing, or perhaps you are looking for something specific, please feel free to contact me.

'If we let natures world nourish our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls, then we will grow and blossom into that which we are truly meant to be' (DH)

Cheers...
